This puts your check-in QR code one tap away — no app download needed.
You will need
- Your Volunteer ID, included in your QR card email
- About 2 minutes
Open Chrome
Make sure you are using Google Chrome as your browser. If you do not have it, download it free from the Google Play Store.
Open your QR code link
In Chrome, paste this link in the address bar. Replace FC-0001 with your own Volunteer ID from your email:
https://api.qrserver.com/v1/create-qr-code/?size=600x600&data=FC-0001
Tap Go. Your QR code will appear on screen.
Add to home screen
Tap the three dot menu in the top right corner of Chrome. Look for one of these options:
- Add to Home screen
- Install app
- Add shortcut
Tap the option when you see it.
Name your shortcut
A popup will appear asking for a name. Type:
My QR Card
Tap Add or Install.
Confirm placement
Android will ask you to place the icon on your home screen. Drag it wherever you want and tap Done or Add Automatically.
You are done
Your home screen now has a QR Card button. At every event:
- Tap My QR Card on your home screen.
- Your QR code appears fullscreen in Chrome.
- Show it to the officer to scan.
If you have a Samsung phone
Samsung devices sometimes use Samsung Internet instead of Chrome by default. You have two options:
- Download Google Chrome from the Play Store and follow the steps above.
- Or in Samsung Internet, tap the three line menu at the bottom right, tap Add page to, then tap Home screen.
Troubleshooting
