This puts your check-in QR code one tap away — no app download needed.
You will need
- Your Volunteer ID, included in your QR card email
- About 2 minutes
Open the Shortcuts app
The Shortcuts app comes pre-installed on every iPhone. Find it by swiping down on your home screen and searching Shortcuts. Tap to open it.
Create a new Shortcut
Tap the + button in the top right corner.
Add an action
Tap Add Action and search for Show Web View. Tap it to add it.
Paste your QR code link
In the URL field, paste this link. Replace FC-0001 with your own Volunteer ID from your email:
https://api.qrserver.com/v1/create-qr-code/?size=600x600&data=FC-0001
Name your shortcut
Tap the name field at the top and type:
My QR Card
Add it to your home screen
Tap the Share icon at the bottom right, which looks like a box with an arrow pointing up. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen. Then tap Add in the top right corner.
Choose an icon, optional
Before tapping Add, you can tap the icon next to the name and choose a photo. Use a screenshot of your QR code as the icon so it is easy to find.
You are done
Your home screen now has a QR Card button. At every event:
- Tap My QR Card on your home screen.
- Your QR code appears fullscreen.
- Show it to the officer to scan.
